What's the best CCTV system (using IP) for all applications? Why?

By "CCTV system", I mean the whole enchilada – not just a few cameras, a monitor, maybe a DVR. I'm talking for all applications – residential, commercial, industrial, gaming, etc. What system do you think gives the most bang for the buck, so to speak?

Please give me an actual reason! (Not just "it works" or "it's cheap".) I'm looking for insight, here.
I'm looking for an actual company name, not just the components.

HI,

The base of the IP cctv system is the software called EyeSoft. It is compatible with multi vendor IP cameras, analogue capture cards & USB cameras giving you a choice of cameras to use. You can also view & record IPTV streams. The software has a neat interface and has great usability. Its available in 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 channel versions with the 64ch version featuring intelligent video analytics with a POS feature to be added soon. The best thing about the software is that its easy to use, has many features, most importantly it is a stable high quality platform but costs less than its competitors like Milestone and other popular IP surveillance software.

BiKal also have a new set of IP cameras to be release soon (you heard it here first) featuring H.264 streaming technology which basically means you can either reduce bandwidth consumption by up to 40% or increase video quality with current settings over standar MPEG4 or MJPEG.

A free demo is also available on the website with videos and screenshots.

I would say use a set of IP cameras that use power over ethernet so there's only 1 cable to run for each camera (plus it can be easily sunk in to the wall) and a PC with appropriate software and big enough hard drives to hold the video. Most graphics cards support tv out so it would be easy to replay video to transfer to tape in case a copy is needed by any authority.

It's certainly not the cheapest solution but it would be easy to expand if needed and parts can be easily replaced.

Although the softwar can be installed on most PC's, BiKal also offer a range of Network Video Recorders specifically built for network surveillance. Not only are the NVRs made from industrial grade components with options up to 32TB storage per NVR, but it also features INTEL's I/O AT IP acceleration techology which allows high speed data to be handled correctly, great for a large number of cameras or megapixel cameras.

Each component of the network IP surveillance system offers strong performance & features, but used together its possible to built high quality and resilient IP surveillance systems at a lower cost by using BiKal products.
