What is the laws of placing a cctv system on the front of your house when you live next to a childminder?

I have placed a cctv camera at the front of my house so i can keep an eye on my garden as people have been dumping rubbish on it,but my next door neighbour called the police out,the police said it was fine as the camera does not show any of her garden, yet this neighbour is still giving me hassle, why?

Because she’s a fool? Maybe because she – or her clients – are the ones dumping rubbish on your garden?

The cops are right. Your camera is completely legal.

As long as the police say it is ok then you neighbour can’t do anything. As long as it is only watching your garden and not there watching children go in and out then you should be ok. You have the right to put them up on your property . You child minder should have some on theres too for extra security for the children they care for. Try and expaln to them why you have them and if they want show them what the camera are filming so they can see it is only your garden not theres.

Just because she’s hassling you doesn’t mean what she’s saying has any basis in law. Some people are just dicks. If the cop said it was okay I wouldn’t worry about it. Whenever she shows up and starts complaining just tell her to sue you or shut up. Make it clear that you aren’t budging and the only recourse she could possibly have is the courts, which you know aren’t going to do anything for her.

Your neighbor probably feels threatened by the visible camera and may not know that it doesn’t see her home or garden. If you were to conceal the camera somewhat then maybe she would not feel so threatened.

If your CCTV doesn’t overlook her house, she
has no reason to pick a quarrel with you.

I would ignore her, she is being overcautious.
