What do I need to record CCTV cameras at home?

We have 2 CCTV cameras which we are connecting to our television, but we would like to record them both as well. What do we need to do this?
A "video surveillance recorder". This could be a VHS tape based or hard disc drive based unit. For consumer grade, Lorex and Swann make a few hard disc drive based surveillance recording systems.
Instead of connect the surveillance cameras to the TV, connect them to the surveillance DVR, then connect the DVR’s monitor to the TV so you can see what is being recorded.

The least inexpensive and easiest way to accomplish what you want is to use your own computer and a USB capture device (first link below). The safest and best way to record would be to get a dedicated DVR device like the second link below. Good recording video quality is always a trade-off between quality and price.
