The use of such a lens hinders the camera’s ability to pick up distant images but it gives the driver an uninterrupted horizontal view of the rare. Since the camera is meant to watch out for close obstructions it does not matter whether the camera can pick up distant images or not. The camera is fixed in a downward pointing position in order to give a view of obstacles on the surface of the floor as well as corners and cars.
