Avoid DHCP unless you are using static dhcp. I would use static IPs and put the cameras on a separate subnet
If you want to find out what your IP address is, then just go to the bottom right hand corner of your desktop and click on the computer icon with the two )). Then go to support and you IP address should be right there.
Lol, i know NO-ONE still on a 56k modem lol

If you go on forums alot and do lots of gaming then I would go to dynamic so you can change your ip address from the router. Hackers can get your ip address from gaming, forums and can shut down your internet for a period of time, if you have a 56k connection then they can burn your router.
well you can go in cmd and type ipconfigrelease
then ipconfigrenew, and that will change it…

hi thanks so much for the answer… i found most of what i wanted… i almost got it…but i am stock at the pppoe i mean my DVR needs to conect to the DDNS server in order to update its ip address but my netgear (sky router) doesnt operate in PPPOE it uses PPPOA. so i`d like to know if theres a way to do it without the PPPOE or how to enable it on my netgear…have you got msn?
Hello,
I would be happy to help with your remote CCTV setup. I can help you identify what IP addressable DVR would be best for you, then can advise you on how to go about connecting it to the Internet. I can either guide you free of charge, or actually set up your DVR & router to allow remote monitoring for a small fee. Give me a call at 800.291.0523 ext. 104 so that I may further assist you.
