Is there a home security system without the subscription?

Yes, I have a dog, but he thinks everyone is his friend. I’ve been looking into getting a security system but I don’t want to subscribe and pay monthly payments. I went to Lowe’s and saw they had a GE security system. Is there something else out there? Anything anyone would recommend for a DIY security system?

Go to Amazon.com, type in DIY security system to see what they have, and then google DIY security system reviews. These are wireless systems that DO NOT have central station monitoring unless you want it. The only problem with a dog is that even if you set motion sensors where Rover won’t trip them, he will find a way to do so. That will activate the siren or horn and your neighbors will love that. Maybe just get a system that protects the doors and windows with contacts and no motion sensors. Their prices start at $180

Yes, but you have to pay for internet, and you get to monitor with your own phone, it’s pretty neat.

Unmonitored systems are absolutely worthless. Without monitoring, most systems will simply have lights and sirens that your neighbors are likely to ignore. A more expensive system might have the ability to call you on a mobile phone when an alarm is registered, but you would still need to call emergency services yourself. Most municipalities also require the purchase of annual alarm permits whether your system is monitored or not. If your alarm sounds and emergency services arrive, you could be hit with a hefty fine if you do not have a permit. Frankly, you would be better off just buying a fake alarm company lawn placard. They actually deter criminals just as much as real security systems do.

Go to ebay & search for GSM security systems.
Very inexpensive, do not get motion sensors but door window sensors, smoke detectors, flood water, etc.
The master control has a 24Hr battery backup so will still work if power is cut to the house.
You insert a sim card in the master controller & depending which alarm is triggered it calls out to required numbers. fire dept on smoke alarm, police on entry alarm, your mom for laundry, etc.
SIM card was $20 & we put $100 on it for the year. I use the money on the SIM card in my cell phone before the year is up so don’t lose any money.

Yes, I had the same problem and found a wireless one at the source link. It wasn’t that expensive either ($300 or so)…
