is it legal for your landlord to put a surveillance camera in your house?

Our landlord came to do repairs and unbeknown to us installed a surveillance camera in the entrance way of our rental house, she did not ask permission and did not receive it from us. she said it was for our protection.

It can be outside, or in a common area if it is a shared rental. It can not be inside the house is you are renting the entire house.

In your actual home? No! I could maybe see an entry way to an apt complex but not in your actual living space. Contact a lawyer or police.

If so, you have the right to privacy and the landlord has no right.

If the entrance way is not in your actual rented living space, then the landlord has the right to install a camera.

What do you mean "entry way"? If it is inside your rental space that is illegal. If it is outside the house, it is not illegal.
