Does an internet surveillance camera store the data online?

I am looking to purchase an internet surveillance camera. Does the data get saved on the site and for how long? I want to be able to sleep instead of having to watch the monitor all the time. thanx

An "internet surveillance camera" is merely a security camera that uses an IP address. Where the video is stored is up to you.
An IP-based surveilance cam has an embeded application – video server – that can send video or still pictures where you to it to. Typically, this would be a file server capable of storing lot of data. The data – in this case, video data – is stored on hard drives. These can get expensive… someone has to pay for them…
Since you did not tell us what needs to be under camera surveillance or what your budget is, or whtehr you need the camera to be able to seen in darkness, or any other details, we have no idea what to recommend.

Personally, I prefer to store this sort of important information in servers I control and I can access and I can maintain the security on and I can say what and how much data is stored form where.

Why does it have to be an "internet surveillance camera"? Why not an analog camera connected to a surveillance/security DVR with a hard drive (and an assigned IP address so the video is accessible from other computers)?
