What program can i use for my security cameras?

I am a member of a volunteer fire dept. and we have some security cameras. It is hooked up to a VCR and we need to upgrade it to the computer. Is there a program where the cameras can be recorded onto the computer?

We’ve found Milestone’s Xprotect program to be the most flexible solution for all of our surveillance camera installs because it isn’t proprietary or locked into any specific brand of camera. It’s got a ton of features, plus I think at the moment they are still having a promotion where you can download the single-camera licence for free.

They also just released an "Enterprise" version which you pay the licence for on a per-camera basis instead of a 4-camera licence or something minimum when you don’t have that many cameras. Check out their website to see if the promotion is still running.

I live in michigan where it is illegal to record someone without their knowledge.. Does this law apply to personal security cameras? So if someone is in my home and commit a crime, wouldn’t I be entitled to using my security camera footage as proof?

Yes…security footage would be allowed…put a small sign in your yard that says"property under surveillance.

Are Walmart security cameras good enough to read license plates?

Someone vandalized my car and drove off in the Walmart parking lot. Are the security cameras outside powerful enough to read license plates? Would someone at Walmart have a record for me to use in court?

I’m sorry to hear that your car was vandalized. I’ve been a victim of two auto thefts myself and unfortunately there were no cameras around to capture the crimes.

In regards to your question, Walmart could have any variety of security cameras installed on their property, so it would be difficult to say whether or not they have the zoom and resolution to capture a car’s license plate. I work for a security camera company and we do carry one custom license plate camera, but even our camera has its limitations. If it was night time, you’ll have to hope that the parking lot light was bright or that Walmart has infrared cameras installed. There are so many factors that could affect the ability to capture a license plate from the camera specifications to the weather conditions.

I suggest contacting the manager of your local Walmart and asking for the security team to review the footage during the time and date of the vandalism. Give them enough information to easily find the event. Hopefully your local Walmart uses digital video recorders rather than tapes. Often tapes are recorded over or discarded. If they give you any trouble about the footage, file a police report and request that the officers review the video for you. This should save you some legal fees, but you still may need to get a lawyer involved.

The lack of cameras did not cause the robbery or rape. If you want to know if there are times in which a landlord can be liable for failing to provide security the answer is yes. If you want to know if some specific landlord can be liable for harm caused by failing to provide security, then consult a lawyer who can look into the facts of the case and the law of your state or country.

l I live in a very shady neighborhood ,complex of 20 units and literally have a crazy neighbor who smeared feces (Shit )all over on my out side door and on the door knob she has done so many creepy and crazy and violent behaviors toward just about everyone who lives here….So i bought security cameras facing my door …. most of the people are intimidated by her cuz she freaken crazy violent ..anyway its my right to protect my self ..right?

I’ve used this ploy to get legal advice on several things that MIGHT fall under state, county or town ordinances. My favorite was to ask if I could ‘rent’ a town policeman to enforce traffic laws on my street. The town had a cop with a radar gun on my street in 3 days.

I want an app that can view security cameras using the ip adress from the Internet. So I can see scurity cameras in my school and stuff.

You cant view cameras unless you are give permission CCTV Closed Circuit TV (note the closed circuit)

95% of cameras and DVR will not allow you to view them with the I phone or other smart phones.
And even then you need permission and password.

Is it against the law to have Security cameras in public restrooms? If security cameras are found on top of a stall what can be done?

Top of the stall would definitely be out of line. Most businesses will not put any in a bathroom at all. However, if they only viewed the sink area or where you walk in or out, they would probably be legally acceptable, although many might object.

ok i tend to get this alot nowadays. whenever i walk into a shopping store, shop whatever you call it. i tend to feel the security cameras are always on me and constantly watching me.

i dont know why i get this feeling, can there be any possible reason as to why this maybe?
