i tried to get the 260gb hardisk and put it directly to the primary slave of my PC, but it was not detected.

i tried also to use the USB port, and connect it to my PC… My PC recognizes a USB Mass Storage and says it is readu to use. but i cannot find it in "My Computer"

i tried to use the software but the software doesn’t recognize it neither

i used another software and it is recognize at IDE 0 -Usb Mass Storage, but that software doesn’t support my dvr.

how can i get the videos i need?

Rightclick on the My Computer icon ? Manage ? Disk Management, it should be in there. You may need to change the drive letter for it.

Set the BIOS, to detect the hard drive. If the BIOS cannot see it, then the OS can’t.

Also, a HD in an external case, must be set as "Master".

For 16 cameras to record high definition (HD) for 15 days non-stop (24h) is not very practical for home – unless you are a company and can afford a CCTV system with multiple harddrives.
For budget CCTV, you need to use some other ways to record:
If you use motion detection, once there is a movement, it starts to record, then it would be better.
Or buy one with a secluded recording system, every few seconds it takes one picture and save it to a harddrive.
Once you are sure about function, go to ebay, the same function are normally at the same price range.

I ordered a CCTV surveillance system with 4 cameras and the DVR it all records on has a record rate of 30fsp (quad) and 7.5fsp (each). Can someone explain what the quad and each stand for and if the recordings will be choppy? The display frame rate is 120fsp.

CCTV images will always look pretty good on the monitor in real time.

When you play the images back from the DVR if you are using one camera at 30 fps the image will look pretty good even if you play it slow. If you use all 4 cameras at 7.5 fps (30 / 4 = 7.5) when you play it back the image will be choppy but what you do is pause it and look at each image one at a time. For normal CCTV purposes this system will work fine. If you are looking for really nice resolution and a great picture, don’t use a CCTV system.

There are many brands & options to chose from or type’s of installations. For any commercial installation i would suggest looking at American Dynamics, Panasonic, Bosch or Nice but these come with larger options, support & price tags.

Now more likely for your home or small business installation you need to take a look at how many camera’s you would like to record, typical CCTV DVR’s come in 4,8 & 16 channel configurations and it’s always nice to have a couple of ports open for future expansion. One of the best residential quality security manufactures is Speco and there DVR’s go for about $700-3000. Depending on your budget & needs there are other makes out there though that can offer whole kits for $250-1000 such as swan & Q-see but i stress these are basic entry level kits. If all you want to do is see whats going on in a general area & not care too much about facial detail or counting money then they will work fine.

Basic answer to your question the NICE Vision DVR is one of the Best but 10-15K plus.

i have 4 various dvr no perticular make the problem is i need 4 differant types of software to view them what i want to know is if there is a free universal software out there were i can view them all on one screen

Your in a bit of trouble then. You will need atleast the manufacturers name to be able to get the correct software. Currently there is no universal software.

You could try to contact whoeever sold you the DVRs. They should be able to tell you who the manufacturer is. However, as they are unbranded they are most likely cheap Chinese DVRs which is probably worth replacing to a branded Javanese of Korean chipset.

If viewing them all on one screen is what you want. Your best bet is to purchase a new 4 channel DVR thats branded, they start from around £110.
